MSN Spaces not working in Firefox?
Sometimes you may try visiting a friend’s MSN Spaces blog in Firefox and get a message saying, “This space is temporarily unavailable. Please try again later.” However it seems to work fine in Internet Explorer.
This isn’t typical discrimination against users on the grounds of browser usage (or is it? I think we should be told…) so much as a misleading error message. It happens when your friend has set their MSN Space to be visible only to their friends. Clicking on “Sign in” in the top right hand corner and logging in with the e-mail address and password that you use for MSN Messenger to contact them should let you in.
Shouldn’t Microsoft give a more informative message here?
You’ll also recieve the same error with IE, if you aren’t signed into your .net passport and navigate directly to the user’s space – so it’s not a browser specific thing (this time ;)). And yes, it could be a lot more informative 🙂
True, but you are more likely to encounter it in Firefox since IE, MSN Messenger, MSN Spaces and Microsoft Passport are all integrated. You can from your friend’s contact card in MSN Messenger to their space (in IE) but if you want to try adding it to your favourites in Firefox, or subscribe to their RSS feed in, say, FeedReader, it gets a little bit interesting.
I see that they have actually come up with a more informative message now though.
